Arun Kumar Roy Mahato

Biography

Dr. Arun Kumar Roy Mahato, Scientist and In-charge of the Terrestrial Ecology Division. He has obtained Ph.D. in Zoology from Vinoba Bhave University, Jharkhand. He has 5 years of research experience as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Kolkata on animal ecology and behavior and many aspects of biodiversity. He has 12 years research experience on behavioural ecology, animal taxonomy, wildlife biology, biodiversity conservation, ethno-biology and sociology. He received prestigious Young Scientist Award from International Society for Ecological Communication (ISEC) and First Prize in presentation competition organized by Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata. He has published 4 books, 33 research papers in peer-reviewed journal, 8 book chapters, 33 technical reports, 44 abstracts in conferences and 6 popular articles. He has undergraduate and post graduate teaching experience of more than 5 years in KSKV Kachchh University, Bhuj. He has guided more than 15 dissertation students and supervising one Doctoral student on animal ecology. He has participated more than 30 conferences/symposium/seminars. He also attended 9 workshop/training and leadership courses on various aspects of ecology and biodiversity. Presently, he is a member of the District Expert Appraisal Committee (DEAC) of Kachchh district, Gujarat. He is also served as a Member in the Eco-sensitive Zone Committee of Lala Bustard Sanctuary and Narayan Sarovar Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat. He is an editorial board member and reviewer of many national and international journals. He is also member in many scientific and professional societies.
