Biography
A native of Austria, Gerhard Mayr received a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich, Switzerland) in 1969 and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University in 1972. In March 2004, he retired as Executive Vice President of pharmaceutical operations at Eli Lilly & company after 32 years of service. He had been responsible for global pharmaceutical operations and sales and marketing worldwide at Lilly – a leading innovation driven corporation. Gerhard Mayr is a member of the Board of UCB since 2005 and is serving as Chairman of UCB since 2012. He is also a member of the Board of Almirall SA (since 2012), member of the board of the Vienna Science, Research and Technology Foundation (since 2002) and a member of the board of Project Hope, USA (since 2002). He is a member of the circle of patrons of INSEAD Business School (since 2000). He has been on the Board of GVK BIO since July 2009.
