Biography
Vivekanand Kain has done his Ph.D from Mumbai university and working as professor in Homi Bhabha National Institute. He has won many awards and recognitions during his period. Metallurgist of the Year 2011 award by The Ministry of Steel,Government of India, 2011. Meritorious Service Award from the National Association of Corrosion Engineer (NACE) International, India Section, 2011. DAE-SRC Outstanding Researcher Project Award, awarded in 2009; award for a period of five years. Homi Bhabha Science and Technology Award 2005, awarded on October 30, 2006 by Department of Atomic Energy. INS Medal 2003 for significant contributions in the field of corrosion & materials science by Indian Nuclear Society, 2014.
Research Interest
Corrosion of materials and corrosion control, including electrochemical techniques, Environmental degradation of materials in nuclear industry, Metallurgical and corrsoion aspects of stainless steels, nickel base alloys, Zr base alloys and steel, Fabrication procedures, inclduing welding, surface working etc and its influnce on microstructure and corrosion, Aging related materials degradation, residual life assessment and life extension
