Biography

I lead the Blockchain and Smart Contracts Group at IBM Research - India. Prior to that I was a part of the Distributed Systems Research Group working on problems related to cloud computing. My research interests are broadly in the analysis, performance management, and optimization of distributed systems and networks. I was selected as part of 'Best of IBM' for 2017. I am a Master Inventor and ACM Eminent Speaker. I obtained my PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in September 2010, advised by Prof. Tarek Abdelzaher. My PhD thesis was on Feasible Region Calculus, a fundamental theoretical analysis of timing issues in distributed systems. I received my B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India, in Computer Science and Engineering. I am a recipient of the best paper award at the Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems 2009, the best student paper award at the Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems 2007, the Vodafone fellowship for the academic year 2007-08, the Andrew and Shana Laursen fellowship for the year 2005-06, and the C.L. and Jane Liu award from the Department of Computer Science at UIUC in 2007.
