Biography

Modified Trap for gundhibug: A luring trap using rotten crab/frog was improvised and found highly effective in the management of rice gundhibug (Leptocorissa orotorius), a major pest of rice and this improvised ITK is adopted by more than 80 per cent of the rice growers in Meghalaya.. IPM technologies like clipping of infested shoots and fruits and use of pheromone trap for the management of Brinjal fruit and shoot borer were popularized amongst the farmers of Meghalaya and Tripura.) Isolated local strains of Entomo-pathogenic fungi-Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae, Verticillium lecanii and a Nemato-phagous fungi Arthrobotrys oligospora Isolated 3 species of Entomopathogenic nematodes from Meghalaya ans successfully used them for the management of rice and maize pests. Integrated management practices for Citrus stem borer standardized and popularized Winter management for honey bees standardized and popularized for Apis cerana indica Under ICAR Ad-hoc project on Bamboo flowering and rodent upsurge, Bamboo fruits (available only once in 50 years) were analyzed and found that it was not having any factors inducing high reproduction in rodents.
