Biography
Identified about 85 actinomycetes species from Indogangetic plains, mangrove and extreme ecosystems of India, documented and deposited at National Agriculturally Important Microbial Culture Collection (NAIMCC) of National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (NBAIM), Kushmaur, Mau Nath Bhanjan, Uttar Pradesh An illustrated identification guide was compiled and published for identification of Streptomyces genera covering 342 species of Streptomyces and related genera as: Mahesh S. Yandigeri, Dilip K. Arora and Arvind K. Yadav (2010) ‘Synoptical Keys for Identification of Streptomyces Genera’ published by National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (NBAIM), Kushmaur, Mau Nath Bhanjan (U.P.), India (ISBN: 978-81-909892-0-6). Identified three potent drought tolerant endophytic actinomycetes for alleviation of water stress in wheat. Guided for 12 M.Sc. students and trained many researchers for molecular identification and characterization of actinomycetes. Deposited 118 microbial gene sequences at NCBI GenBank. Established actinomycetes culture collection at National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (NBAIM), Kushmaur, Mau Nath Bhanjan (U.P.), India
