Jaya Jumrani

Biography

Jaya Jumrani joined the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as a Scientist at the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad in September 2011. She belongs to the 94th Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Services (FOCARS) batch of NAARM. Thereafter, she joined as a Scientist at her place of posting i.e., the National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NIAP), New Delhi in December 2011 followed by another three months of Professional Attachment Training at the Centre for the Study of Regional Development (CSRD), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has been working in the broad research areas of food and nutritional security, agricultural growth and modelling, and impact assessment. Prior to joining ICAR, she was working as a Research Officer with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), New Delhi. Her key responsibilities at CERC included analysing regulatory data, report writing, assisting in preparation of technical/policy-related documents and implementation of various assigned studies through recruitment of consultants, performance reporting and progress monitoring. Previously, she was with the Editorial/Opinion team of The Financial Express wherein her responsibilities included writing columns/editorials on various important economic and financial issues, editing articles, page conceptualization, researching for contents and commissioning of articles from various sources. She also supervised and successfully executed the weekly research page of the newspaper ‘FE Edge’. In addition, she was responsible for provisioning of all the relevant statistics for the Union Budget special edition and other suchlike events. She completed her Master’s Degree from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi in 2009. She was also awarded with scholarships at the Higher Secondary and Graduate level for her excellence in academics. She did her summer internship at NCDEX Institute of Commodity Markets and Research (NICR), New Delhi wherein a project titled ‘Farmer-Labour-Private Joint Venture Agriculture Company Model’ was formulated and analysed as a suggestive model.
