Biography
Dr. Suresh Pal has a Ph D in agricultural economics from ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (New Delhi). Before joining ICAR-National Institute for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, he was Member (Official), Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices, and Head, Division of Agricultural Economics, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (New Delhi). He has thirty years of experience and made significant contributions to the advancement of research and teaching in the area of agricultural development and policy. He has more than one hundred research publications (books, working papers, journal articles) to his credit, which are cited internationally. He has published in 16 different journals of international repute and acted as a major guide for doctoral and masters students at IARI. He was member of various committees of the Government, notably ICAR, Niti Ayog (formerly Planning Commission), Ministry of Environment and Forest, Department of Science and Technology, and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. He was instrumental in designing and institutionalization of research planning and management reforms in the national agricultural research system. He has also worked with international organizations like World Bank, FAO, ODI and CGIAR Centres for short-term assignments and collaborative programs. He has been associated with leading professional associations as member and office bearer, and received awards for his significant contributions like best journal article awards, Norman E Borlaug International Science Fellowship, and Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
