Biography
I have started my research carrier as Junior Research Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai worked on Nuclear Polyhedrosis virus (NPV) for biological control of certain Lepidopteron pests of agriculture importance. Subsequently, joined National institute of Virology, ICMR, Pune and involved in the investigation of suspected arbovirus outbreak in the country. Developed expertise on isolation of arboviruses from clinical and field caught mosquito specimens in animal and cell culture techniques and experienced on diagnostic assays for certain rickettsial pathogens such as Coxiella burnetti and Orientia tsutsugamushi at NIV, Pune. For the past 24 years, I have developed expertise on working with the epidemiology of arboviruses such as Japanese encephalitis virus, Dengue virus, Chikungunya virus in India. I had been in conducting outbreak investigation special reference to arboviruses infections. Having working experience during National Calamity especially during Earthquake affected areas in Gujarat, Latur and Osmanabad, Maharashtra, Tsunami affected areas in Kanyakumari districts in Tamil Nadu. Developed barcodes of important mosquito species collected from different parts of the country. Presently, working on the molecular diagnosis of arbovirus in human and vector species. My research interest includes genomics of arboviruses and vector mosquitoes, development of indigenous cost effective diagnostic assays
