Ashish R Mittal

Biography

Ashish Mittal is a researcher in the Cognitive Solutions and Services group at IBM Research, Bangalore. He is currently working on the cognitive systems that use natural language processing and machine learning to solve real-world problems. He is building a platform which enables seamless interaction of the data to the user through conversation in natural language. Before this, Ashish Mittal was a Blue Scholar in the same group at IBM Research, India. He worked on the Jupiter project whose goal was to allow natural language query over the available content using domain knowledge. Ashish completed his Masters in Computer Science from IIT Bombay in 2015. His M.Tech thesis titled "Numerical Relation Extraction with Minimal Supervision" was done under the guidance of Prof. Sunita Sarawagi, Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan and Prof. Mausam (IIT Delhi). His research interests are machine learning, natural language processing, and recently deep learning. In his spare time, he reads. He is interested in sports and follows a bunch of them (Football, Basketball, etc..), while he plays badminton and cricket.
