Biography
Dr. B. Ramakrishnan earned his Ph. D. from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, India in 1992. He joined the agricultural research service and worked as the Research Microbiologist at the Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack from 1992-2009. Currently, he is working as Principal Scientist with research and teaching responsibilities at IARI, New Delhi. His research interests include microbial diversity and functions in agricultural ecosystems and remediation of contaminated soil and water environments, with special emphasis on anaerobic microorganisms. He was awarded with the BOYSCAST fellowship of Department of Science and Technology (India) availed at Max-Planck Institute of Terrestrial Microbiology, Marburg, Germany, Fulbright fellowship (USA) at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA and Endeavour Research Fellowship at the Centre for Environmental Risk Assessment and Remediation, Adelaide, Australia. He is a reviewer of journals like Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Bioresource Technology, Catena, Journal of Basic Microbiology and Current Microbiology. He has authored 67 research articles in the international journals, 8 articles in the national journals, 11 book chapters and presented his research in several conferences and seminars. He is a life member of National Academy of Sciences-India, Allahabad (India), Association of Microbiologists of India, and Association of Rice Research Workers (India).
