Currently he is a Professor in Division of Vegetable Crops at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research
Research Interest
Involved in development and release 3 varieties in Carnation and Rose. In carnation, name of the released varieties are ‘Arka Flame’,’Arka Tejas’ and the variety released in rose is ‘Arka Parimala’. Responsible for registration of Four carnation lines with NBPGR New Delhi for their unique ornamental and economically important traits. In rose,responsible for registration of 3 genetic stock for their ornamental value and as resistance source for powdery mildew and black spot disease. Responsible for overcoming crossability barrier in inter-varietal hybridization involving cut flower carnation varieties. As a curator, responsible for collection,evaluation and maintenance of 50 Dianthus germplasm. Responsible for undertaking exploration of sub-Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh to collect more than 10 rose species involving 4 native species. All the 10 species have been successfully acclimatized to Bangalore condition.Thirty six accessions belong to 10 species have been submitted to NBPGR for registration and IC numbers have been obtained for further utilization.
