Biography
Professor Shekar has been a tenured faculty at IIMB since 1990 and his current teaching interests are centred around Thinking paradigms and Creative elements in diverse domains. His current research interests are Creative Patterns, Thinking mechanisms, and Data mining – especially in the area of Interestingness of Association rules. His future research plans include evolving frameworks for visual and aural arts, and evolving metaphors that connect and unify different areas of art. In addition to teaching and research at IIMB, he is also open to delivering lectures, conducting seminars and holding workshops on Creativity and Thinking at academic institutions. Apart from research publications, Professor Shekar has co-authored popular articles that highlight the bridge between creativity and advertisements. Research Interest
Principal Research Investigator for the pioneering IIMB research project on Cultural Entrepreneurship (emphasizing art galleries) on the basis of Online Social Networks. Over 40 research publications having more than 150 citations, in the areas of artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, data mining and knowledge discovery. Doctoral research theses guidance in the following areas: Unsupervised Classification (Clustering), Creative Advertisement Design, Interestingness of Association Rules in Data Mining, Choice-functions-based Analysis of Preference Relations in Decision-making Contexts, and Representation and Reasoning of Managerial Knowledge and Mindsets in the Form of Causal Networks.
