Biography
Presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal, India.
Research Interest
I am working in the area of Experimental and Numerical Rock Mechanics. Currently, my research focuses on Charecterization of natural rock ioint and Rock mass. Fracture propagation in rock, Pavement design of Haul road using insitu material and development of composites using commerical or non-commerical materials. Recently, I have started working in the area of Petroleum Geomechanics through an ONGC project titled “Geomechanical modelling of the borewell stability”. My sponsored projects are funded by from DST (GoI), ONGC and HCL whereas industrial consultancy are given to Government and Private Companies. The major consultancy funds are from HCL, WCL, ECL, OMC, UCIL, NMDC, GMDC, MECON, IMFA, BAL, Hindalco Industries Ltd., Tata Steel, Ambhuja Cement Ltd., Godawari Power Ispat Ltd., and others. My major industrial consultancy are in the area of stability analysis and design of surface and underground strucutres includes Waste dump, Tailing dam, Slopes in soft and hard rock; Haul road, Subsidence prediction; Underground openings, Pillar, Stope and related area; Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring. To have a close interaction with industry and academia, I offer tailer-made in/ off-campus short on topics related to Rock Mechanics and Ground Control, Slope Design, Design of surface and underground structures and Numerical Modeling. In near future, I would like to extend my research in the area of Rock Dynamics, Rock Tool Interaction, Fluid Flow Through Rock Mass and related areas.
