Research Interest
various aspects of static and dynamic instability of isotropic, composite and sandwich plates and shells under mechanical and thermal loadings. For this purpose we use various numerical techniques for solving related boundary value problems. It is well known that imperfections which are inherent in the manufacturing process of shells affect its stability and reduce the load carrying capacity drastically. We measure imperfections and study its effect on static and dynamic instability of cylindrical shells. Damage which is inherent in composite structures affect its response characteristcs. We are trying to model damage evolution in structures under static and dynamic loads. The group is also involved in modelling failure of brittle matrials under high velocity impact. The fatigue damage of concrete pavements are also being studied.
