Dr. Prabal Banerjee
Assistant Professor
Chemistry
Indian Institute of Technology Ropar
India
Biography
Dr. Banerjee joined the Department of Chemistry, IIT Ropar in 2010. His research work is centred around developing critical methodologies for construction of complex molecular entities, such as fused bicycles, spirocycles, etc. and its application towards synthesis of biologically active (thrust area is cancer and diabetic) natural and design molecules. Dr. Banerjee worked with Prof. Gais at RWTH-Aachen, Germany as DFG postdoctoral fellow from 2005 to 2007 after his PhD at National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune with Dr. Ganesh Pandey in 2005. Then he moved to Purdue University, USA, where he was working mainly on synthesis of hyperpotent anticancer drug Cephalostatins and its delivery for more than two years with Prof. Fuchs before joining IIT Ropar.
