Biography
Wolfendale's research is concerned with various aspects of the cosmic radiation at low energies such as, its interaction with matter, its origin and the information, of relevance to astronomy, that can be gained from its study. From experimental studies carried out at ground level and underground, of muons, nuclear-active particles and nutrinos, he discovered cosmic ray neutrinos. During the last two decades, his research has an astrophysical character. From detailed studies of cosmic rays, he has drawn conclusions about the nature of cosmic ray sources. He has analysed the interrelation of cosmic ray primaries, including particles of anti-matter. He has put forward new ideas of interest to astronomy.
