Biography
Dharmajit Guptasarma obtained his BSc (Hons) in Physics (1950) and MSc in Radiophysics & Electronics (1952) from Calcutta University. He was awarded a Scientific Manpower Committee Research Fellowship of the Government of India, and worked as a Research Scholar with Arun Chaudhury at the Institute of Radiophysics & Electronics (IRPE), and was then appointed as a Lecturer at IRPE without completing a PhD. He worked in the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Kolkata (1956-65), and then joined the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad from where he retired as Director in 1992.
