Biography
Mckenzie's principal research interest has been the dynamics of the Earth. His early concern with the development of the concepts of plate tectonics led him to take an interest in the mantle convection and most recently in the generation and movement of melt withing the Earth's mantle. In a series of papers with, especially, James Jackson he has extended the early ideas that work so well in the oceans to provide an understanding of continental kinematics.
