Biography
DV Singh obtained BE (Mechanical Engineering) (1956) and BE (Civil Engineering) (1957) from University of Roorkee. Thereafter, he received MS and PhD degrees from University of Wisconsin, USA. He was Lecturer (1958- ) and Professor (1967- ) in Mechanical Engineering, University of Roorkee (UOR). He also served UOR as Head, Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, Dean Academic, and Dean Research and Industrial Liaison, UOR. He served as the Director of Central Road Research Institute during 1990-96. He then joined the All India Council for Technical Education as the Vice-Chairman in 1996. He was Vice-Chancellor of the erstwhile UOR (2000- ) and on its conversion to IIT, became its first Director.
