Biography
Gautam Bhattacharyya obtained his B.Sc with Physics Honours, M.Sc in Physics, and Ph.D in Theoretical High Energy Physics (1993), all from Calcutta University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Theory Division, CERN, Geneva, Switzerland (Jan 1994 to Dec 1995), and then at Pisa University, Pisa, Italy (Jan 1996 to Dec 1997). He joined Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics as a permanent faculty in Jan 1998, where he is currently a Senior Professor (`H' grade). In 2007 he spent his sabbatical at CERN as a `Paid Scientific Associate' (5 months), and in 2012 he spent his sabbatical at T.U. Dortmund as a `Mercator Visiting Professor' (6 months). He has made several academic visits to institutions such as CERN (Geneva), ICTP (Trieste), Univ of Paris (Orsay), CEA Saclay, MPI Heidelberg, DESY (Hamburg), IST (Lisbon), Kavli IPMU (Univ Tokyo) for scientific collaborations.
