Biography

Professor Fleming is a world leader in physical chemistry, a highly cited author (h-index=85, with total >23,000 citations). He has made fundamental contributions to chemical dynamics in liquids, elementary biological processes, and development of multi-dimensional echo and non-linear laser spectroscopy. His most significant contributions are: a) discovery of ultrafast sub-100 fs component of solvation dynamics in water, b) discovery of ultraslow component in the dynamics of biological water, c) elucidation of microscopic processes involved in energy transfer in photosynthetic systems, using self-designed non-linear electronic spectroscopy. d) discovery of quantum coherence in biological systems, e) development of many novel experimental techniques and also several theories.
