Biography
Dr. Pathak was born on February 2, 1965 in Purulia district of West Bengal. He obtained his school education in West Bengal; BSc (Ag) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; and MSc and PhD in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. He joined Agricultural Research Service of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as a Scientist in 1992 and promoted to Senior Scientist in 2001 and Principal Scientist in 2009. He has worked as a visiting scientist in the University of Essex, United Kingdom; International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines; CSIRO Land and Water, Australia and Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research, Germany. During 2007-2009, he worked as the Co-Facilitator, Rice-Wheat Consortium (RWC), IRRI-India, New Delhi. He was the Lead Author, Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 5th Assessment Report. Currently he is the Coordinator of DARE/ICAR for the climate negotiations in the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change.
