Biography
Dr. Huanming (Henry) Yang, born on 6th October 1952 in Wenzhou, China, is one of the most distinguished genomicists in the world. Dr. Huanming Yang has made significant contributions to the International Human Genome Project and the HapMap Project, as well as to genome sequencing and analysis of the rice, chicken, silkworm and many other microorganisms. These studies have resulted in a deeper understanding of the evolution and biology of plant and animal kingdoms. In addition, he has made profound contributions to social and ethical issues in human genetics, especially on strengthening the protection of human research subjects in China. Primarily through his leadership, Chinese genomics now occupies a prominent place in the international genomics map. He has also established commercial biotechnology/genomics entities as offshoots of the Beijing Genomics Institute, such as Huada Genomics Institute and the Huada Biotechnology Co., both located in Hangzhou.
