Hemanta Kumar Majumder

Biography

Hemanta K Majumder did his graduation and post-graduation from Calcutta University. Subsequently, he joined Bose Institute, Kolkata and worked under the guidance of Professor RK Mandal on regulation cell division with special reference to chromatin to obtain his PhD (1975). He worked at the Department of Developmental Biology and Cancer, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York under Professor Umadas Maitra as post-doctoral Fellow (1976-79). He also worked at the Institute fur Molekularbiologie I, Switzerland under C Weissmann (1979-89). After returning to India, Majumder joined Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB, CSIR), Kolkata (1981). He was a Visiting Associate (1988-89) in the Department of Molecular Biology, University of California in Professor Harrisson Echols' Laboratory.
