Biography
The NF-?B pathway is one of the most widely used transcription factor systems in developmental biology. Inder Verma is one of the pioneers in our understanding of this pathway. He has used the tools of biochemistry, genetics and developmental biology in his experiments and combined this versatility with insightful analysis. His earlier experiments on retroviruses have been widely recognised and more recently this has resulted in his development of the lentivirus system of gene-introduction which has revolutionised the production of transgenic animals and applications to gene-therapy. Dr. Verma's work has been widely recognisd and he is on the Board of Trustees of the Salk Institute, American Cancer Society Professor at the Salk Institute, and a Fellow of the US National Academy of Sciences.
