Biography
Wuthrich emphasized on the development of experimental techniques for studies of structure and molecular dynamics of bioilogcal macromolecules in solution. In the late 60's, he demonstrated that the active sites of haemoglobin and other haemoproteins could be studied in detail by NMR spectrocscopy. In the mid 70's, his amide proton exchange and aromatic ring rotation in proteins were key experimental observations on protein dynamics. He developed, the now widely used, NMR method for determination of the three-dimensional structure of proteins in solution.
