Biography

Man Mohan Chawla earned his BSc (Hons) and MSc degrees in Mathematics from the University of Delhi. He joined faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (1963) and obtained his PhD degree (1968) in Numerical Analysis. At IIT, Delhi he rose to be Professor (1978) and Head, Mathematics Department (1986-89). In 1992, he accepted professorship at Kuwait University, retiring from IIT, Delhi (1994). Chawla has been visiting faculty at the University of Illinois and New Mexico State University, USA; at the University of Manitoba, Canada; and Oxford University Computing Laboratory, UK.
