Biography

Mahendra Pal Singh obtained the PhD (Mathematics) from the University of Maryland He then worked at Cornell University for about one and a half years and at NASA for a year before returning to India to join the IIT Delhi as a founding faculty member. At his initiative the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences was set-up. It has grown into a leading research center, well known internationally for its work in climate research, cyclone prediction and air quality modeling. He was also Visiting Professor at Cambridge University (1973). After retirement from IIT Delhi, he has been Founder Director, Ansal Institute of Technology (AIT), Gurgaon (2000-2010) and contributing towards its reputation internationally. Currently he is the Executive Director of Ansal Institute of Technology and Management, Lucknow (2011-).
