Biography
Padam Chand Jain earned his BA (Hons) in Mathematics and MA (Maths) degrees from Delhi University, after which he joined Hindu College, Delhi University, as a Lecturer (1951). He obtained his PhD degree from Delhi University on 'Statistical Theory of Turbulence' under the supervision of FC Auluck. He worked as a Visiting Professor of Mathematics (1963-65) at Maths Research Centre, University of Wisconsin, jointly with Don Greespan, M Kawaguti and Ben Noble. On returning to India, he worked as a Professor of Applied Mathematics at BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan before joining IIT-B, Mumbai as Professor of Mathematics in 1966.
