Biography
Poonam Salotra received B.Sc. (Hons) degree from Delhi University, M.Sc. (Biochemistry) from P.G.I., Chandigarh and Ph.D. from Delhi University, while working at V.P. Chest Institute on regulation of glucose metabolism in lung, under the supervision of Dr Vishwa Nath Singh. She did postdoctoral research at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology, Nutley, New Jersey, U.S.A., where she studied the mechanism of action of Cholera toxin. Upon returning to India, she joined as Research Officer at Tuberculosis Research Centre, Madras (1982). Later, she worked as the Principal Investigator under Young Scientists scheme of DST(1991) and as CSIR Pool Research Officer (1993) at Centre for Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She joined the National Institute of Pathology (ICMR), New Delhi as Senior Research Officer (1996) and continues to work there.
