Biography
Professor Jain is highly regarded as a pioneer – in both bioengineering and oncology disciplines – who revealed the physical barriers to drug delivery and efficacy in tumors, then proposed novel strategies for overcoming these barriers and finally translated these strategies to patients. His seminal contributions to bioengineering and oncology are widely recognized, cited and admired (ISI citations >60,000; h-index 119). His discoveries have fundamentally changed the thinking about how anti-cancer drugs actually work in cancer patients, and have become core-principles for drug development. His research also represents a premier example of integration of engineering with oncology. He served on the Scientific Advisory Committee (Overseas) of the Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India (2004-2009).
