Biography
Operating two large high pressure cloud chambers filled with hydrogen at a high mountain level, Miyake obtained examples of multiple production of pions in p-p collision and neutron spectrum in the atmosphere. Using large multiple cloud chamber operated with an extensive air shower (EAS) array at the mountain level he observed the average characteristics of cores of EAS and their large fluctuation. An analysis of the data of EAS by him brought out the importance of level fluctuation of starting points. He also conducted experiments at the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in India and studied the underground depth-intensity relation, zenith angular distribution of cosmic ray muons, muon bundles, neutrino intensities, etc. He has undertaken nuclear decay experiments to prove the Grand Unification theory, and reported the life and decay modes of protons at KGF.
