Biography
Professor Suresh is one of the most distinguished materials scientists as well as accomplished academic and scientific administrators on the world scene today. Through his research he has made seminal scientific contributions on a range of subjects starting from fatigue and fracture in engineering materials, deformation in thin films and most recently mechanical properties of biological materials such as red blood cells and their connection to the decease state. In addition, he has disposed duties as the Dean of Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Director of the National Science Foundation, and is elected to be the President of prestigious Carnegie Mellon University; first person of Indian origin to be elevated to such high positions in academic and science administrators.
