Biography
Thiruvenkatachari Parthasarathy received his BSc and MSc (majoring in Statistics) both from Madras University. He then joined the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata where he worked on 'minimax theorems and product solutions for simple games' under the guidance of CR Rao and received his PhD (1967). Between 1967 and 1979 he was at various American universities where he taught courses in statistics, probability and operations research. On returning to India he joined as Professor at ISI, Delhi Centre (1979) and retired from there (2003).
