Biography
Uday Bandyopadhyay obtained BSc (1985) and Post-graduate Degree from Calcutta University, Kolkata. He was awarded PhD (1994), in the area of gastric pathophysiology and cell biology. He worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow (1995-96) with Professor R Barouki, INSERM-U 99, Paris, France, studying the regulation of aspartate aminotransferase gene expression in hepatoma cells. He then worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow (1996-97) with Professor Andreas H Guse in the Department of Physiological Chemistry, University of Hamburg, Germany, studying inositol pentakisphosphate metabolizing enzyme as well as regulation of Ca2+ signaling in T-lymphocytes. On return to India, he initially joined as pool officer at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata and then moved to CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow as faculty of the department of biochemistry (2002-2006). In 2006, he again joined CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata in the department of infectious diseases and immunology as a senior faculty.
