Biography

Chirantan Chatterjee is a faculty member in economics and public policy at the Indian School of Business where he is also the Bharti and Max Research Fellow in Public Policy and Healthcare. His research interests are in applied microeconomics, economics of innovation and pharmaceutical economics. He has been published in top peer- reviewed journals like the RAND Journal of Economics, Journal of Health Economics, The Journal of Law & Economics, Research Policy, Social Science & Medicine, Brookings Press & NBER. In the past, Chatterjee's research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Pfizer and Qualcomm. He has also consulted with the World Bank and the Competition Commission of India and his inputs have been cited in a 2015 Tarun Khanna Committee Report by NITI Aayog on innovation and entrepreneurship policy for the Indian economy. At IIM Bangalore, where he was previously affiliated as a faculty member between 2011-2016, Chatterjee created the first ever MOOC on healthcare markets in India at edX. In his spare time, he regularly contributes Op-Eds on economics and public policy issues for national dailies like LiveMint, Economic Times, Times of India and the Hindustan Times and tweets @chiruchat. Chatterjee earned a Ph.D. & an M.Phil. in public policy and management from the Carnegie Mellon University. He has a B.Tech (civil engineering) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and a MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
