Biography
His education includes: M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D. His research interest is in Disease problems and their management in Forest Nurseries and Plantations, Screening of breeding populations of commercially important plantation species against diseases, Isolation, characterization, identification, pure culture production and mass multiplication of mycorrhizal fungi and other beneficial microbes, Molecular characterization of different beneficial microbes, Study the efficacy of different bio-inoculants and biomanures on growth improvement of important tree species in nursery and field, Determine the efficacy of bio-inoculants for reclamation and rehabilitation of problem soils such as saline, mined overburden areas etc, Diversity of mushroom flora in forest ecosystem. Study on beneficial microbial interaction with trees in heavy metal contaminated sited in Tamil Nadu. His ongoing projects are: Selection, evaluation and identification of efficient bio-inoculants for quality seedling production of selected fast growing native tree species (NFRPICFRE), Influence of beneficial microbes in conferring salt tolerance to Casuarina clones (NFRP-ICFRE), Exploitation and utilization of beneficial microflora from the sholas for restoration of degraded shola forests in the Nigiri Hills, Tamil Nadu (EAP), Impact of Continuous Moisture on Growth, Flowering, Seed Production and Wood Characteristics of Canal Teak Plantations in Tamil Nadu (NFRP – ICFRE), Impact of forest plantation on ground floral diversity and soil characteristics including the prescription of management practices (NFRP – ICFRE).
