Biography
She graduated from Dept. Of Physical Chemistry, University of Madras and has post doctoral research experiences in dept of Civil Eng. IIT, Madras and in Lab of Membrane Biophysics & Biochemistry, NIAAA, NIH, Rockville, USA. She has various other degrees like PGDBM (Par MBA) degree with Information System Specialization, PGDCM and currently pursuing DOEACC IT 'B' level (Par MCA) in addition to holding various other certificates in oracle/ D2K (USA), Visual C++(ICS, Scranton USA), Adv Java , UML through Rational Rose, Software Testing etc. She has been involved in many projects related to Information technology and diseases like TB and Malaria using bioinformatics techniques and guiding students for their postgraduate and MPhil degrees. Prior to joining IIHMR she was working with DOEACC, an autonomous body of DIT, govt. of India for imparting IT and bioinformatics courses for 6 years. She was involved in imparting academic training to both students as well as corporate officials as a senior faculty and course coordinator. She also has professional experience in IT Industry for nearly 5 years at various levels from a developer to product manager and was involved in developing biomedical and commercial softwares and was one of the founder member of the start-up company AASMAM. She is also a graduate member of AIMA, Lifetime member of Surface Society of India and CSI and a member of HIT Forum. She has the distinction of being invited as special guest speaker at Whitehouse Biotech Carnival 2009, Kathmandu, Nepal and trained at ICGEB in "South East Asian Training course on Bioinformatics Applied to Tropical Diseases" sponsored by WHO-TDR.
Research Interest
Her current research interest includes development of HIMS, open source database development & data mining related to health, Geriatric Health Survey, Utilization of bioinformatics tools in the area of nutrition survey and nutri-genomics, implementation of health information technology in public hospitals and Mobile E-health Surveys. Her hobbies include vegetarian cooking, reading non fictions, crafting and travelling.
