Biography
Sreelakshmi K. Sreenivasamurthy obtained her M.Sc. degree in Medical Biochemistry from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University. She worked on genomic and proteomic data analysis at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore, prior to joining IOB. She was funded by UGC, Government of India during her Ph.D. tenure at IOB. At IOB, she worked on vector biology and infectious disease-related projects including proteogenomics of An. stephensi, proteomic analysis of body fluids to study the host responses in infectious diseases such as chikungunya, meningitis and rabies. During her tenure at Dr. Akhilesh Pandey's laboratory at Johns Hopkins University, she employed technologies such as CRISPR-cas9 to produce gene knockouts and BioID to study the interactome of proteins. She has established and employed next generation sequencing technology in identification and determination of drug resistance of carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis at Pandey lab. She is currently continuing her work on infectious diseases at the Center for Molecular Medicine at NIMHANS, under the guidance of Dr. Akhilesh Pandey.
