Prof. H. N. Verma

Biography

Prof. H. N. Verma is the Vice-Chancellor at Jaipur National University, Earlier he was the Professor of Botany, Dean and Pro-Vice-Chancellor at theLucknow University. His main teaching / research interests are Microbiology, Molecular Biology. Biotechnology, including plant tissue culture. Professor Verma has lectured in Germany, France, USA and China. He has done extensive work on Diagnosis, Characterization of Viruses and Management of Virus Diseases of economically important plants. Prof. Verma was invited by the Infosys to be a member of their. Nomination Council to nominate a candidate for the coveted Infosys Prize of Rs. 50 Lakhs. The prize is awarded to a person who has raised the prestige of Science in India and has inspired others in his/her respective fields of study and research. Prof. Verma has been a member of various Academic bodies. Prof. Verma is a Fellow of the National Academy of Science (FN.A. Sc.). He is a recipient of Birbal Sahni Gold Medal and several other covetes awards. He is the author of more than 150 research papers, published in national and international journals of repute, Prof. Verma has also authored three books. He has successfully completed twelve research projects funded by major funding agencies of India, such as DST, DER CSIR, ICAR, UGC etc. Prof. Verma has supervised more than 50 Ph. D. students, who presently hold high positions in universities and research organizations. Under the joint leadership of Professor H.N. verma and Prof. Malik, the school of Sciences at JNU, Jaipur was adjudged the number one Department in Rajasthan.
