Biography

Dr. Garima Mathur joined JIIT as Research Associate in December 2010. Before joining JIIT, Dr. Garima worked as postdoctoral fellow at JUIT, Waknaghat, Himachal Pradesh. She worked as postdoctoral fellow at Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, IIT Delhi on a DBT funded project titled “Reconstructing Cellular Networks: Two Component Regulatory Systems”. She has worked for almost a year, as Scientist at Novozymes South Asia Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. She holds a first class Bachelor in Science (Biotechnology) from Kurukshetra University, masters in science (Biotechnology) from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Ph.D in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee. She is university topper and gold medalist. She has worked in biodegradation of high density polyethylene by soil fungal isolates during her doctoral research. Her awards include GATE (AIR 53), CSIR-UGC JRF/NET, Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board- NET (2003), Women Scientist Scholarship Scheme (2003) and has availed CSIR fellowship, from MHRD, GOI, during her PhD. Dr. Garima several international publications to her credit. Her area of interest includes production of biopolymers from fungi and bacteria, enzyme production and environmental biotechnology.
