Biography

Dr. Gunjan has been working in Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) since Sept, 2012. He did his PhD in Microbiology from National Dairy Research Institute (ICAR), Karnal. After completion of PhD, he worked as postdoctoral scientist at University of Hohenheim, Germany and University of Ghent, Belgium for a period of around four years. Before joining JUIT, he worked at Department of Biotechnology , Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana for a period of around 2 years.

Research Interest

Microbial ecology: My current research aims at understanding phenomena of gut microbial ecology in order to manage the vast metabolic capabilities of complex microbial communities. Furthermore, molecular fingerprints will be used to correlate biodiversity with functional stability of these microbial communities. Food Biotechnology and Food safety: My research also focuses on screening and development of functional bioactive components/probiotic based formulation for their application as biotherapeutic agents by studying their functional properties against Cronobacter sakazakii, a food borne pathogen.
