Biography
Prof. S. P. Purohit did M.Sc. Physics in 1986 from H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand. In 1986 he joined research in the area of Atomic and Molecular Collision Physics at University of Roorkee (presently IIT Roorkee) and obtained Ph.D. degree in the year 1992. Subsequently, he continued as research associate CSIR at Physics Department, University of Roorkee and then joined the Theoretical Physics group at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad in 1994 as a post doctoral fellow for a period of about one year. Prof. Purohit worked as lecturer in Physics at Bareilly College, Bareilly, U. P. and at Kumaon Engineering College, Dwarahat, Uttarakhand. He taught for ten years at Kumaon Engineering College. He joined JIIT as Assistant Professor in 2005. Prof. Purohit has total teaching and research experience of about thirty years. The research work performed by Prof. Purohit deals with the electron and positron–atom collisions, the laser–assisted electron–atom scattering, and nanoscience. Presently, he has fifty one publications including research papers in International Journals of the American Physical Society, American Optical Society, American Scientific Publishers, the European Physical Society, Springer–Verlag, Elsevier, NASA, AIP, International, and National Conferences. He is a life member of Indian Physics Association.
