Bhagyalakshmi Marella

Biography

Bhagyalakshmi Marella completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry from Bausch & Lomb School of Optometry (BLSO), L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad(affiliated to Birla Institute of Technology and Science). She is working as a Junior Optometrist – Research in the Visual Optics Laboratory of the Brien Holden Institute of Optometry and Vision Sciences (BHIOVS)since 2016. Previously, Bhagya worked as a consultant optometrist for 2 years at the Jasti V Ramanamma Children’s Eye Care Center, LVPEI, Hyderabad. Bhagya received the gold medal for the best outgoing student in her class and is keen on pursuing research in the areas of pediatrics, binocular vision and orthoptics. Her current research work is focused on understanding how both eyes function together in the patients with ocular abnormalities in one eye. Her research would enable better understanding of how the both eyes function together to facilitate binocular vision and the impact of different treatment regimens in reinstating binocularity. In addition to research, Bhagya is also actively involved in training optometry students at the Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry, BHIOVS, LVPEI and spends two days of her week for patient care.
