Biography
Dr SayanBasu, is a clinician and scientist, who specializes in treating ocular surface diseases, corneal pathologies and cataracts. He did his cornea fellowship at LVPEI, Hyderabad (2008-2010) and his basic research training in stem cell biology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, PA, USA (2012-2013). Dr Basu is a prolific corneal transplant (PK, DALK, DSEK) surgeon and an expert in the state-of-the-art femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). He is also internationally recognized for his volume of original and trend-setting work in stem cell transplantation (SLET) and artificial corneal transplantation (Kpros). He spends considerable amount of his clinical time in successfully managing complex cases referred to him from specialists across the world. These often include patients with Stevens Johnson syndrome (SJS), severe acid/chemical burns and eyes with multiple failed surgeries. He works with a team of contact lens specialists, vitreo-retinal surgeons, low-vision-aid experts and psychological counsellors to provide optimal visual rehabilitation to every patient.
