Biography
Shashanka Bhide was previously the Senior Research Counsellor at National Council of Applied Economic Research, New Delhi. He joined NCAER in 1982 after two years of post- doctoral work at Iowa State University, Ames, USA. Working in different positions at NCAER, he has acquired wide ranging experience in both research and research administration. His research covers a wide range of development issues covering agriculture, infrastructure development, rural housing, poverty dynamics and macroeconomic modelling. He was Professor and Head of RBI Unit at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore during 2003-04. He has visited the Australian National University, Canberra and Foundation for Advanced Studies in International Development, Tokyo on research fellowships. He has also done consulting work for the private sector and international organisations. He has served on a number of official committees on statistics relating to Indian economy.
