Biography
Dr Waghmare has worked on yoga and metabolic syndrome and is currently focusing on immunodiagnostics in tuberculosis (pulmonary and extra-pulmonary). She is working on techniques that would confirm tuberculosis in cell cultures and clinical specimens by using biomarkers such as anti ES-31, anti ES-43 and antibody conjugates and is also researching on techniques that would differentiate M. tuberculosis infection from non-tubercular mycobacterium infection. She is also interested in finding out new drug targets for treatment of tuberculosis and is studying the effects of various marine compounds on M. TB bacilli. She has published 15 research papers in national and international journals and has also presented her research in national conferences.
