Biography

Dr (Mrs) P. Narang graduated from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi in 1969. A cultural president of the college, she was also awarded the Annie McKenzie prize for being the best all rounder. In 1973, she joined MGIMS as a lecturer in Microbiology. Hers was the first appointment in the institute in the department of Microbiology. She obtained post-graduation in Microbiology from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi in 1978. Over the next three decades, she nurtured the department with exemplary dedication and passion. She established, almost single handedly the new field of microbiology in the institute and her department has risen to the pinnacle of scientific achievement. Dr (Mrs) P Narang was dean at MGIMS between 2002 and 2007 and was named Secretary of Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram in October 2007,a post that she held till 2014.
