Biography

Rodney P. Nichols Executive Vice President, Human Resources, Health and  Administrative Services Marathon Petroleum Corporation Mr. Nichols is executive vice president, Human Resources, Health and Administrative Services of Marathon Petroleum Corporation. He is on the board of trustees of the Blanchard Valley Health System, where he serves on the human resources and governance/nominating committees. He is also a member of Michigan State University’s School of Human Resources & Labor Relations Advisory Board. Mr. Nichols began his career with Marathon in 1977, as an employee relations representative in the Corporate Industrial Relations organization. After an assignment in the northeastern production district, Mr. Nichols served in a number of employee relations management positions in Alaska and Wyoming, as well as at the Garyville, Louisiana, and Texas City, Texas, refineries. He was named manager, Human Resources Refining, Marketing and Transportation in 1986, vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services for Marathon Ashland Petroleum1 in 1998, and senior vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services in 2012. He was appointed to his current position in 2017, where he oversees the Human Resources and Labor Relations, Administrative Services, Aviation and Health Services organizations for the corporation. Mr. Nichols holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations, both from Michigan State University. He attended the Advanced Human Resource Executive Program at the University of Michigan School of Business in 2002.
